It's safe to say that Instagram can officially double as a dating site. The social media platform has been featured in many headlining songs - the more popular being rapper Yo Gotti's Down in the DM'sWell, that was exactly how the fresh couple Carly Pearce and Michael Ray came to be - through the DM's.

The Hide the Wine singer recently had an on-screen interview with Taste of Country where she spilled the beans.

"I've had a crush on him for a really long time and just always thought there was more to that pretty face, and there totally is," she said.

Her plan was simple, Pearce would comment on all of Ray's Instagram stories in an effort to snag his attention. "I did what every girl does in 2018, slid into the DMs."

Unfortunately, the task went on a little long because Michael wasn't really sure what to think.

"And he'll tell you it took him a second to get it," Carly added.

In a separate interview with Cody Alan on his radio show, After MidniteMichael admitted that Carly definitely did all of the heavy work and that he did not want to be presumptuous.

"I don't know if it's a guy thing, but I don't catch on to hints worth crap," Ray admitted. "I was also afraid to be like, 'I think she's into me,' because I want to see her again. So if she's not into me, and I go in thinking she is, that's weird."

The couple recently confirmed their relationship in July via a social media post. They originally opted to keep the relationship private, with Ray playing coy when asked about it.

“When it comes time to talk about the dating life, it will come out,” Ray told reporters during a press roundtable, One Country reports. “She’s a great girl and I think that she’s an incredible person. Right now everything on both ends are about both our singles and both our music, and it’ll come out. She’s great, I’m a big fan. I’ll leave it at that.”

Less than a day later, however, the couple shared an adorable photo of them cuddled up backstage at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville

Pearce captioned her photo writing: "And then one random night at the Nashville Palace changed everything. "

The couple has since been adoringly open about their relationship, frequently posting cute photos together.

Although both Pearce and Ray are touring right now, their separation is not a strain and they have great communication.

"When the other person does what you do it's a lot easier. You don't have to explain it," Pearce says.
