Rates of fatal traffic collisions of drivers under 21 have fallen dramatically, a new report shows.
The Governors Highway Safety Association still finds young drivers to be among the riskiest groups behind the wheel, but factors such as education and restrictions have helped.
“Young drivers are the riskiest age group on the road, and the reasons are straightforward — immaturity and inexperience,” Pam Shadel Fischer, author of the GHSA report said. ”Many young drivers simply don’t have the behind-the-wheel experience to recognize risk and take the appropriate corrective action to prevent a crash.”
